The first snow is falling in Olympia. This makes me both happy and annoyed. Riding a bike in the snow is no fun. But it hardly ever snows in western Washington, so it's kind of difficult to be a grump about it.
Yesterday, Daniel and I interviewed 6 people as potential roommates.
#1 - came wearing a coat that reminded me of Santa Claus, only it was dark green.
Awkward moment: Daniel: So, do you have much stuff? The house is pretty small, obviously.
#1: Not really. Oh wait, except for my suits of armor. And artwork. And leather bits.
Nicole: Leather bits?
Daniel: We'll give you a call tomorrow.
Points: 3, because he reminded me too much of an ex.
#2 - was pretty quiet, just moved from the South Carolina, and had a beard. Not awkwardly quiet though, just slightly reserved. And he owned turntables.
Awkward moment: When he came early, before the other guy had left. Oops.
Points: 8, because he seemed like the most low-maintenance guy. And come on, turntables!
#3 - was this bubbly girl who did belly dance and wanted to make a documentary about janitors. I liked her, but she struck me as the type that would lose their shit about people not doing their dishes immediately, or other semi-triffling matters. Also didn't have a job. No.
Awkward moment: Me: So... if you could be any kind of woodwind instrument, what would you be?
#3: What's a woodwind?
Points: 5, because she had costumes and said she liked playing dress up.
#4 - was in the running as most indifferent man ever.
Awkward moment: Daniel: So... did you want to know anything about us?
#4: No.
Points: -3, for complimenting the really ugly paint job.
#5 - was a total douchewagon, who refused to actually look at me, and only talked to Daniel during the interview. Hell no.
Awkward moment: All of it. We only let him stay for five minutes before Daniel politely kicked him out.
#6 - was a wanna-be farm girl, who wore a cool vintage coat. She likes Scrabble, and is also a nerd.
Awkward moment: None, actually.
Points: Nine, because she was down for gardening and keeping chickens in the back yard.
It's currently down to #2 (whom Daniel favors) and #6 (whom I prefer). #7 was some biker/accountant guy that I didn't talk to, and came while I was at work. Our last interview is today around 3, and then we're going out to dinner and deciding then who we want to live with.
This is seriously exhausting.
