(no subject)
I went camping with Amy, Adam, Jamie, Conor and Nick this weekend in Acadia National Park in Maine.
Conor and Jamie picked me up after work on Friday and we drove 5 hours to meet the others. Got lost, but really didn't, in the wee hours of the morning on unlit backwoods Maine roads. The three of us crammed into our little tent, me in the middle of a manwich. Haha. We gathered round the fire for a bit and talked and drank.
Saturday we explored some cliffs after breakfast, we hiked Bubble Rock, we went to the beach and Amy and I froze our butts off on the sand while Jamie, Conor and Adam rock-hopped. We then went to town to get more food for dinner, which was followed by amazing ice cream. Back at the camp site we watched Adam and Jamie duke it out over Rummy, we at raw and cooked corn, we burned food on sticks, we drank, we got hassled at 11p by the "rangers" ("This isn't a bar you know!"), we finally went to sleep...
On Sunday we cooked breakfast and then Conor, Jamie and I loaded up Conor's car so that we could hit the road straight after kayaking. Then Amy, Adam, Jamie, Conor and I got kayaks and we hit the waters of Bar Harbor. We paddled around islands, and stopped at one and swam and ate PB&J and cut ourselves on barnacles, evil barnacles, we bled on the rocks, and then we paddled back to the docks whilst having our photos taken by soon-to-be-whale-watchers on a ship with Maroon sails.
Needless to say, I'm seriously wishing I was still in ME. I had a lot of fun! I wish I was still in a freaking kayak on the water enjoying the sun, the cool breeze, the chilly but deliciously wonderful water, the swells, the waterproof cameras, rubbing my thumbs raw on the sides of the kayak and slicing my heel open on barnacles, the salty residue on my skin.
Oh man, I can't wait to go kayaking on the west coast in 19 days. I can't wait I can't wait Ican'twait!
Ok, I can't wait for vacation period.
