Troy Davis, a US death row prisoner who Amnesty International has been campaigning on behalf of for a long time now, is due to be executed tommorrow at 7PM EDT. This appalling decision renders meaningless the Board’s 2007 vow to not permit an execution unless there is “no doubt” about guilt. The Troy Davis case is riddled with doubt. Most of the witnesses who testified against him have recanted, while others have pointed to an alternate suspect as the real killer.
It's urgent, and it's not a completely lost cause yet - it's not uncommon for stays of execution to be granted hours or even minutes before sentence is carried out. I blogged about this case before here. So yeah. Please take a look?
