Craft room plans
I was visiting one of my friend's this weekend when I noticed that I really liked how nice and neat their "office" room was. I want my craft room to be like that. I really do. I even tested out their desk to see if it would be suitable for what I'd do, and it is. So I think my craft room will be getting a very major revamping over the next several months.
I actually started thinking about this several weeks ago as I was looking up tutorials on wordpress and certain other things. I thought it might be nice to work at a desk or something while doing such things rather than balancing a laptop and kittehs in my lap, while working in a recliner. I thought about getting an iMac, which both Keith and I have wanted for a while. The problem was just we have no where to put it really to make it usable. Especially if I were to ever attempt to convince my work to let me work from home sometimes, or if I were to get a new job, or freelance and work more at home, I'd need a neat space to access it and work.
Right now my craft room is crammed full. There is a drawing table, a very large wardrobe, and a small desk for a sewing table. I'm thinking of getting rid of all that and getting this Expedit Desk instead http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59861342/ from IKEA. Not sure I'll get the 4x2 bookshelf with it, the 4x4, or maybe the 4x2 and a small 2x2. I also want a new rolling chair, and one of those chair mats.
Basically that one desk would be used for everything. Sewing, drawing/painting, and computer work. Its large enough to keep the iMac on it all the time, and I still have plenty of room to pull out the sewing machine to use it. Plus I can safely tuck away the sewing machine into one of the little cubbies. :D
Step 1 is to de-clutter the craft room first. After that I will take a "before" picture. Then I want to paint it and make/buy new curtains. Then I'm cutting back on the "things" I have in there. I don't do much paper crafting anymore, so I'll give away a lot of that stuff. Just do a basic paring down to what I actually want to focus on.
Basically I'll be making a master Suzi Art/Craft Cave! Mwahaha!
