Zero glanced up from his computer screen. Every few seconds he continued this until the clock struck 12.
As on every Wednesday, Leng walked through the corridor, his heart was elated until he saw the figure beside her.
“What is Narcissus doing here?” A co-worker beside him asked under his breath, he then noticed Leng. “Ah…makes sense.”
“What does?” Zero asked.
“Narcissus loves all women; of course he’d eventually go after Nymph. He usually doesn’t because he’s terrified of Nyx and Karin.”
Zero furrowed his eyebrows. “But doesn’t Narcissus mean he loves only himself?”
“Well, Zmeu was already taken.” The co-worker said matter-of-factly. Zero watched as Narcissus flipped his hair and talking nonstop to Leng, who appeared to be listening and laughed lightly occasionally.
Zero gulped as he walked to the desk and prepared the papers for her to sign.
“I’ll see you later then.” Narcissus smiled in a flirtatious manner.
“Maybe.” Leng replied with a slight smile, Narcissus grinned as he walked away down the corridor.
Leng looked at Zero, “Any documents for me to sign?” Zero remained frozen. “Hello?”
Zero knocked out of his trance. “Oh! I’m sorry, I was… um, distracted.” He quickly put the documents together.
“I never liked waiting, it seems distraction in the work area is becoming a problem.” Leng gave a small smile. “You should consider fixing that.”
Zero nodded as he shakily gave the documents to Leng. He watched as she signed each paper without as much as a glance.
“S-s-shouldn’t you read it?” He stuttered out.
“Hmm?” Leng then placed the pen down. “No, it’s a waste of time. It’s all just Karin’s unnecessary force, unnecessary fatalities, unnecessary damage and use of explosive devices. And the occasional restraining order, as if that’d worked.” She sighed as she handed the papers back. “Though I take up all responsibility for LiNK, signing her forms should not be a priority. The office should understand and realize that before there’s an unforeseen accident in the form department.”
Zero nodded slowly, he mustered up the courage to ask. “You like Narcissus?”
“No.” She answered right away, “To manage your time better as well as mine, don’t waste your breath asking an obvious question.”
“O-o-of course!” He then handed her more forms. She signed them as quickly as the other forms.
“He worships the ground I walk on apparently.” Leng explained. “I don’t understand how he could possibly think he has the chance to even go out with me.”
Zero’s laugh became more awkward.
“Such futile hope.” Leng commented as she looked over the documents. “If anything, you have more of a chance than he does.” She handed the forms back. “Any others?”
“D-don’t think so.”
“Fine then, if there’s anymore I will refuse to come down and sign them and tell that to the form leaders.” She smiled before she walked out.
Zero grinned as he returned to his computer.
“Isn’t she brutal?” The co-worker chuckled, Zero continued grinning.
“She’s amazing.”
The co-worker’s expression faltered. “…right…”
