Ren tilts his head and takes in the odd sight.

“I don’t like seeing you sick.” He comments from his seat.

Baekho shuffles to the kitchen with a huge blanket covering his body. Ren hurries to his side, “Sit down, I’ll bring you the medicine.”

Baekho does so and shivers on the seat until his medicine comes the way and Ren sits on the armrest. Baekho just smiles and takes the cup from him,

“I can do it myself.”

Ren just sits by and keeps careful observation.

The witch twists his lips as Baekho takes groggy steps to the stairwell, though Ren insists he stay down there the man stubbornly declares he can make the short journey.

Ren keeps right behind him every step of the way with arms crossed over, each light turning off as they made their way to the bedroom. And when they finally reach it, the last light turns off as another turns on inside.

“I really don’t like it,” Ren adds again as he sees the man make a painful grunt as he finally rests back on the bed.

“There’s nothing that can be done- humanly done.” Baekho interjects before Ren could offer his own advice.

Ren shifts his eyes as he helps Baekho fix the mask over his mouth, it was his way to prevent Ren from getting sick. Ren sits himself on the edge of the bed, there’s at least two huge blankets over Baekho’s body and plenty of pillows surrounding him. Still, Baekho was cold.

Baekho felt the witch’s hand cradle his face and he unconsciously leans towards his warm touch. Slowly, his headache begins to diminish and he feels most of his aches disappear.

Baekho peers up as Ren adjusted the curtains on the adjacent window, “you spiked my medicine with potion didn’t you?”

Ren gawked at his accusation and holds his hand over his chest. “I did no such thing.”

“Ren. You’re too good at lying.” Baekho’s voice says muffled.

Ren settled back on, simpering as he tilts his head in thought. “If I cast just one little spell, you could be spending the night with me.”

“No,” Baekho replies.

Ren bit his lip. “Stubborn.”

“Same to you.” Baekho tries to keep his eyes open and murmurs a weak, “I’m sorry.”

This wasn’t a way to spend their anniversary.

Ren stepped over and lines himself just right and falls with a soft plop. Baekho groans loudly at the impact but Ren just chuckles. He traces his finger on the strings of the mask and lulls his head on Baekho’s shoulder.

“It isn’t so bad when you’re sick,” Ren laments. It means he’s home, and in his own care. Baekho, despite working for a hospital, couldn't have been in better hands.

Baekho eventually sleeps from the medicine, but Ren is still wide awake. He purses his lips as he draws circle on the thick sweater. When Baekho turns, he pulls Ren with him and holds him snugly close.

It’s an unintentional accident, but Ren doesn’t mind it one bit and lets himself be held.

By tomorrow, Baekho would be healed completely despite his protests of Ren’s skill, he always knew Baekho secretly preferred it but Baekho didn’t want to abuse his powers. Ren often scoffs at the man’s hesitating around him, as if he’d be using the witch if he asks.

Ren just wished in times like this, Baekho would be more comfortable with asking a small favor now and then.

“Happy anniversary,” Ren says affectionately, and kisses him on the forehead. He cradles the bigger man and hums a soft tune.

It’s not how they planned it to be, but being together was enough. It’s the way it should be.
