"Please." Yesung pleaded. His friend ate the food in silence inside the bistro, Yesung sighed as he reminded. "We won backstage passes."
"I know."
"I know you don't go to his concerts anymore, but please?" Yesung begged with his hands clasped together. "I need someone who at least knows him to go with."
Henry chewed his food when he glanced at the poster of the Bistro's front desk, his glances returning to the passes sprawled on the desk between their plates.
Henry sighed and reluctantly held the lanyard in his hand, tracing his finger against the metal clasp of the black line.
"This one time, and that's it."
-
The lanyard swung from his chest as he walked forward through the venue, his expression stoic as Yesung excitedly yelled with the others.
Within the crowd, he looked up as the curtains parted and revealed a man's face hidden behind the darkness beneath his fedora hat. His trademark.
Henry kept his head low as the congested concert yelled in hysterics once the beat came alive, the man crossed his arms and stood, staring intently at the brightly lit and crowded stage.
The world saw him, and were elated with the personal yet expensive view.
Once the concert ended, Henry tagged alongside Yesung to the back. Henry kept his gaze lowered to the floor when he heard his friend greet politely.
A flash of light and exchanged greetings and praise between the two beside him. Henry didn't dare to look up, and when he did, the man's hat tilted over his eyes, making it impossible to meet them.
"I haven't seen you in a while." Eunhyuk acknowledged, standing before the startled Yesung and the stoic Henry. "I thought I had lost my biggest fan."
Eunhyuk was whisked away by security before the crowd could surround his car.
Henry blinked, turning away from the distant scene as he looked back at Yesung who finally caught his breath and shook his head.
"You don't need a ride?" Yesung asked outside as he stood at the bottom of the bus stairs.
Henry shook his head. "I want to walk around a bit."
"But-" The bus driver honked. Yesung sighed. "Alright then, call me if anything." Henry nodded as the doors closed and the bus took off. He stuffed his hands into his pockets of the baggy jacket and looked around, deciding to take his first step.
He had no direction as he continued on, lost in thought when he stopped in front of an odd statue. He narrowed his eyes to read the words when a pair of hands covered his eyes.
A pair of lips planted a kiss on his head, Henry cleared his throat as the hands lowered. He turned around and faced a smirking Eunhyuk, dressed in casual clothing but wore the same distinct hat.
"You still wear it?" Henry asked warily.
"It was given to me by someone special, why else wouldn't I wear it?" Eunhyuk countered, tracing the edge with style.
He then flipped it over and played with it in his hands, before setting it on Henry's head and blocking his vision.
Despite his witty and childish action, Henry couldn't join him in his blissful happiness. Eunhyuk's own smile faltered when he realized the cold look on his face.
"We're still together, aren't we?" Eunhyuk asked, his voice insecure. A difference from the confidence filled man who stood on stage earlier.
"Why should it matter?" Henry said lowly. "You have plenty of fans to keep you happy." He took off the hat and held it out to return it. A glimmer of resentment still in his tone.
Eunhyuk's smirk returned to his lips at the comparison, not bothering to grab the hat. "I have plenty of fans, countless even, but not every dime is worth ten cents. There is only one worth counting."
"Are you comparing me to spare change?" Henry countered, closing his eyes in annoyance. The wind blew past them, moving the badge against Henry's chest and glimmered in the light.
Eunhyuk tugged on his lanyard and gently lifted it off, unfazed by his tone.
"In the eyes of the public, it's just a celebrity speaking with his fan." Eunhyuk said.
His hands gently traced Henry's jawline, the other holding the fabric between his fingers. "In my eyes, it's just a man speaking to his lover."
Henry felt his averted eyes raise towards him, but he resisted.
His anger lessened, dwindle as it always had when Eunhyuk spoke to him. He refused to forgive so easily, yet it was a fruitless battle he fought within himself. Not as Eunhyuk held him daringly close, arm around his shoulders, standing beside one another in peaceful silence.
Henry kept his eyes open as Eunhyuk kept his closed. One who was too aware of the complications of their relationship, the other obliviously unaware as he affectionately glanced towards him often.
Henry shifted his gaze towards Eunhyuk's hand that remained by his side, the lanyard curled in his fingers. He hesitantly reached out a hand, unsure of his own actions that seemed to act on their own. Acting on what he craved, desired, too much time had passed since they had last seen one another. Since they had remained this physically close.
Eunhyuk then pulled away before noticing the other's intentions. "I'll get us a drink." Eunhyuk suggested as he ran off to the nearest vendor.
Henry sighed and flipped the hat in his hand, repeatedly until the dim light above revealed something slowly coming out of the band inside. He reached in and slowly took it out.
It held a small picture of the two of them, a moment caught in the hours outside his constant schedules and within secluded areas. They had no other choice but to date in secrecy. Yet Henry realized something about the photo.
They really did appear like two people on a date, nothing more complicated than that.
Eunhyuk soon returned, Henry hurriedly tucked the photo inside the band before handing it back. He reached for the drink in his hand.
"Don't you have to leave tomorrow morning?" Henry asked.
"I have plenty of time. And I work my best when I don't sleep." Eunhyuk said confidentially, sipping his drink through a straw. Henry studied his features.
Henry solemnly reached up and traced his finger beneath the singer's eyes, wiping away the make up that hid the dark circles.
"You pretend like you don't care," Eunhyuk said, grabbing onto his raised hand. "But you do."
Henry exhaled, "How can I not? You make me worry constantly."
Eunhyuk smiled. "Don't worry," He declared. "I'll return to you safely, every time."
Henry lifted up his unsure gaze towards the other's. "Can you promise that?"
Eunhyuk then, with careful skill, returned the hat over his eyes. His once playful stare changing to a stern, cold one, a look that was also his trademark.
The hat hid the man's beaming smile as he leaned in and promised, swore to his words, and sealed it with a kiss.

Henry ate his dish in peace when he watched the worker pulled off the poster, the date having past, and slowly roll it up.
"Ah," Henry called out, the waiter looked back. "Can I have that?" The worker blinked and shrugged, handing it politely over.
Later that day Henry rolled up the poster and hung it on the wall, proudly placing his hands on his hips as he admired the view.
"I thought you said you weren't a fan?"
Henry looked back at the man who appeared on his laptop screen, he lowered himself down and stared at the chuckling man who still wore his hat over his eyes.
"I'm not a fan, yet." Henry added playfully as Eunhyuk hardened his expression.
He knew Eunhyuk would have to end the video chat short, abruptly leave with a quick goodbye and face the viewpoint of the world. That was his role.
He'd adjust to it, he told himself, smiling as the watched the hat rise slowly and their eyes met through the colored screen.
This was a side no one would ever see, a side meant for him.
In their eyes laid a stage with the same venue, dimly lit and vacant. Displaying affection and exchanging warm glances the world may never see, but blatantly, proudly, existed.
