“Your appointment has arrived, Sir.” Henry announced as Junsu walked in through the double doors.
Junsu nodded his head when he walked towards the elevator and pressed the button. Once it opened, he stepped back as a man held onto the leashes of four dogs.
“I’m sorry.” The man apologized.
Junsu smiled politely and said he’d take the next one, the doors closed when his security guard suddenly rammed into the wall beside him.
"What happened?" He asked the security guard.
"I MISSED HIM!” Kyuhyun bellowed back, then widened his eyes when he realized the man he was speaking to. “Absolutely nothing...Sir.”
Junsu arched an eyebrow as Kyuhyun left, sulking, murmuring solemnly to himself. “Every. Single. Time.”
He soon arrived to his office, where the seat of the head desk turned around, revealing a informally dressed man occupying his seat.
“Finally.” Junsu uttered, not bothered by the gesture. “You shouldn’t keep me waiting.”
“Finding out whether your employee was selling sensitive information to your competitor took a bit of time. You like to have all your bases covered right?”
“Obviously.”
“Then patience. Trust me.”
“It’s hard to trust someone who can work underhandedly without detection.”
“You can’t use my occupation against me.” Hyukjae said lowly as he took out an envelope and handed it over. He tilted back the seat, waiting patiently as Junsu skimmed over the documents, nodding approvingly. He then took out his wallet to which Hyukjae raised a hand.
“I waved the fee.”
“There has to be a way to pay you back somehow.” Junsu rationalized. Hyukjae grabbed the wallet out of his hands and placed it on the desk behind him.
“I already gave you a settlement I could live with, you refused.” Hyukjae returned, adjusting his backpack.
Junsu stayed rooted as Hyukjae proceeded to leave the office, exhaling deeply as he looked back at the file in his hands.
“You just won’t give up.”
“Considering it’s for you,” Hyukjae said, his hand on the door, startling the man as he smirked. “I don’t really want to.”

Junsu was naturally untrustworthy, prone to deciphering people even before they could introduce themselves, and unfortunately was right most of the time.
It was strange to him how much trust he placed on a man whose career involved manipulating people for information. And it seemed, for the most part, that Hyukjae was on his side, but never for the money he gave him. Hyukjae stayed around often for underlying reasons, ones he proudly boasted.
Not that he bothered to remain quiet about it either. Hyukjae openly admired him as he went about his work.
“If you were the type to be swooned over by chocolates and wine, I would have covered this room with them.” Hyukjae insisted.
Junsu ignored him, used to it. He looked over a file and Hyukjae smiled at the familiar, focused expression.
“You don’t like to be indebted to someone right?” Junsu tilted the page upward from his view. Hyukjae chuckled. “Don’t worry, I would never risk becoming your enemy.”
“How can I be so sure?” Junsu then looked up as Hyukjae rested his cheek against his palm.
“Because it only makes it harder for us to be together.”
Junsu shifted his eyes away, putting away the files as he stood up from his chair. “You seem the type to take risks though.”
“I take a gamble every now and then, only when I’m confident though.” Hyukjae said, “Just as I’m leaving our relationship up to fate.”
Junsu arched an eyebrow, always questioning the man’s vested interest in him. “...You don’t know me well enough.”
Hyukjae leaned back against the leather seat, his hands intertwined over his chest. “I know enough about you to know I like you.”
Junsu reached for a book in the bookshelves beside his desk, skimming the pages. “You studied me? I didn’t pay you for that.”
“You didn’t pay me for anything.”
Junsu narrowed his eyes as he snapped the book shut. “Is that why you refuse payments? To use it against me?” Before the man could answer, Junsu impatiently left the office.
Hyukjae lifted up his backpack and followed after him out of the head office and onto polished tiled floors.
“You need to learn not to be so uptight.” Hyukjae reasoned, pacing himself alongside him. “Not everyone who wants to get near you is after something from you.”
“But you do want something from me.”
Hyukjae sighed solemnly, clutching the strap of his backpack. “Sadly, you’re right.”
Junsu looked from the corner of his eye at the man’s expression, studying closely, as if it could tell him everything he needed to know. But it seemed around him, Hyukjae somehow became an open book, vulnerable. One of the few in his life who didn’t dare try to deceive him.
A trait Junsu admired, albeit quietly.
"HE'S IN THE FOURTH FLOOR!" They both heard Kyuhyun yell loudly and looked out to see the security guard bolt for the emergency stairs.
“You missed him, yet again~” Henry taunted after him.
Junsu crossed his arms. “Why is that fool always doing that?”
“Don’t look down on those who go after what they want.” Hyukjae said gloomily, stepping forward towards the entrance.
He felt a hand on his shoulder, holding him back, he looked behind to see Junsu reach into his pocket and held up a coin.
“Let’s leave it to fate then.” Junsu said. “If you’re as confident as you claim to be, at least.”
Hyukjae stared at the coin, exhaling deeply, a sharp contrast to his usual carefree expression. “...Tails.” He said uneasily.
“You don’t seem confident.” Junsu taunted, Hyukjae met his gaze as the man flipped the coin.
Before it could land, Hyukjae swiftly grabbed it.
“Alright, you call my bluff.” He huffed, “Maybe I don’t like leaving everything to fate, but you don’t give me another choice, do you?”
Junsu tilted his head, “And if I bothered to give you a choice, what would you do?”
Hyukjae clutched the coin tightly in his hand. “Everything in my power to open your eyes, and make you realize you don’t have to regret trusting me.” He sighed, “And hopefully have you see me... The way I see you.”
Hyukjae lowered his eyes, deciding he had enough of wasting his own time. He smirked, attempting to pull off his careless attitude, one Junsu could easily see through as he walked past him.
Junsu tugged his backpack string, tying it around his hand as he stood beside him.
“Let’s see if you can then.” Junsu said, his expression stoic, but his eyes held a glint to them. They walked alongside each other as they left the hotel grounds, Hyukjae flipped the coin without bothering to catch it as they walked through the double doors.
Junsu couldn’t refrain from trying to glance back at the coin, finding himself pining for a certain side to be facing the sky. They were too far, though, and he found himself feeling a bit disappointed that he couldn’t know what fate would have decided for them.
Henry reached for the binder beneath the desk when he glanced at the coin on the marble surface, but left it be as he went over the records.
The metallic surface gleamed brightly, having landed on tails.
