Circa 350 CE, Constantinople

Nyx had been leading Krios on quite a chase for many years.

Her visits to Erebos had been quite regular, after having given him a period to himself (and a period to herself). Some healing had had to happen for both of them, and things still weren't quite... the same.

But Krios had pursued her. When it was discovered that she and Erebos no longer shared the same home, his efforts had redoubled, and she'd learned much of the movements of courting and coyness by dancing them with him. It delighted her to frustrate him, to tease him, to drive him mad. He assured her that he had never put in so much effort for any other woman - she assured him that there wasn't any other woman who would be worth it. She had traveled the world in the meantime, with brief stops to all different places, all different peoples, noting which ones she wanted to visit again and how soon she wanted to do so. Krios, who was supposed to have been in Tartaros, and then the Elysian Fields, sneaked out to meet her in different places. He surprised her, he followed her, he made her laugh.

It took a little over one hundred and seventy five years, and they had disappeared to the new city, Constantinople, to ensure discretion.

Or at least, as much discretion as was feasible.

The affair was illicit on both sides.

Despite her forewarning her husband of this eventuality recently enough to prepare him, but enough in advance to allow him to simmer down, it would have been in extremely poor taste to do anything but meet with Krios in a foreign city. Nyx never mentioned exactly when, where, or whom. She thought it best that way.

And as for Krios... time may have passed, empires may have fallen, but the wrath of Zeus was still a thing for him to fear, so it was best if as few people as possible knew he was walking the Earth.

Krios was, of course, a remarkable lover. Nyx had made all the arrangements; there was a rather opulent house for their use, discreet servants, thick walls and thick curtains to block out prying eyes.

Nyx demanded, of course, that they only meet during broad daylight.

The time they had just passed together had fulfilled all the promise that centuries of waiting and anticipation held. Nyx was lying on her stomach, smoking a cigarette (an odorless one, as was her preference) with a rather wan look, barely a smile, on her face. Her thoughts couldn't help but wander to Him, even as Krios' fingers traced the line of her spine down her back. Her fingers clenched unconsciously in the pillow.

It was done then.
