‘Good evening, do you have a reservation?’
‘Hi, yes, under Caffrey.’

The maître D checks the guest book and nods, ‘perfect, table for two, please follow me.’

Neal is given an excellent table and thanks the man. He doesn´t have to wait long before his guest arrives.

‘Good evening Neal.’

‘Enchanté, June, you really look fabulous.’

‘Flattery won´t get you nowhere, Neal,’ she smiles.

Neal ticks June’s chair in before sitting down again. The sommelier shows them the wine card but Neal tells him they will take the wine arrangement. Once they have ordered their appetizer and main course, they chat. June has been in Europe visiting her daughter and Neal wants to hear about every museum she visited.

Dinner is over quicker than they both realize and their waiter asks if they would like some dessert. Neal reads from June’s smile, she wouldn´t mind, so they are shown the dessert menu. Neal doesn´t have a sweet tooth, so he orders assorted cheeses while June orders the chef’s special.

After dessert, they drink some espresso and suddenly they are the last customers left. Neal calls the waiter for the check, but the waiter tells them the chef would like to offer them a pousse-café. Neal looks at June and she nods smiling.

‘We’ll have Irish coffee then.’

‘Good choice.’

The coffee is brought by the chef himself and Neal can only stare at him. The man is just gorgeous.

‘Peter, meet Neal Caffrey. Neal, this is Peter Burke, owner and chef of Senses.’

Neal realizes Peter and June know each other when peter kisses June.

‘So, what did you think of the food, Neal?’

‘It was sublime. I picked the restaurant because the New York Times gave you fantastic critics. But I didn´t know you two know each other.’

‘We go way back, June has always supported me, even when I was still a caterer.’

‘I always knew there was more, I knew you could earn a Michelin star.’

‘You are too kind, June. So Neal, tell me what you do for a living?’

Neal gets out of June’s town car. She insisted he use it to go to his dinner date with peter. When he gets out the car he can see the restaurant is closed. He carefully feels the door and it is unlocked.

‘Hi Neal, come in.’

‘Oh hi Peter, I wasn´t sure…’

‘Let me lock the door first, we don´t want uninvited guests.’

‘I thought we were having a dinner date?’ Neal smiles gesturing to the empty restaurant.

Peter’s cheeks flush a bit, ‘yeah sorry, I thought we could have dinner  in the kitchen where I will prepare it, but we can go out, if…’

‘Neal takes Peter’s hand, ‘that is the most romantic thing I have ever heard.’ This is such a sweet idea.’

Peter smiles and asks Neal to follow him to the kitchen. Once Neal steps through the doors, a table is set and Neal looks surprised.

‘Is there something special you would like to eat?’

‘No, I trust your taste completely, surprise me.’
‘That I can do Neal.’
