have you seen Brokeback Mountain? I really want to see it even though I don't care for Heath.

reviews from magazines and newspapers on new releases have been shit recently. I was warned that North Country would be "too hollywood" (it only had one scene like that) and that Jarhead would suck (which it did not).

I haven't seen it, but I love hot guys kissing other hot guys, especially when it's like, oh no, don't do that! so taboo! and thus so sexy. us weekly hadn't seen it either, but were immediately like, two guys kissing, we shall give them a zero. it's actually kind of offensive!!!

and i haven't seen either north country or jarhead. north country i probably won't because im not a charlize fan at all and it didnt look appealing to me - was it good though? and jarhead i really want to see! i didn't hear it sucked! who said that? i desperately want to see pride and prejudice and walk the line because holy effer, hearing juaquin pheonix sound exactly like johnny cash on the trailer is enough to get me super excited.

oh, and that little movie called harry potter. AIJGFUIDHJ!

I'm shocked that someone so up to date about films has new clue what North Country is about! I feel cool having one up on you. I also am unsure as to why you dislike Charlize Theron (but we all have different tastes). What about Aeon Flux though? That shit looks tight.

North Country is based on a true story about the first ever (successful) class action sexual harassment case. The director of the film did "Whale Rider". The cast of the film is made up of Sean Bean, Sissy Spacek, Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Richard Jenkins.

I think it's worth seeing and I think you'll enjoy it. I'm not saying it's a perfect film but I really loved it.

thats the first suitable review ive heard for it. i'm, sadly, so cynical when it comes to hollywoods approach to feminist issues. after iron jawed angels, the hours, sylvia... etc.. i could go on. but whale rider was great and charliez does go out on a limb. that must be said for her.

the film deals with (sometimes subtly) gender roles in America more so than being a stereotypical, in your face, over the top "girl gets sexually harassed/raped" story. each character questions gender roles or reinforces them for their own purpose/gain. it also normalizes misogyny in the sense that it shows how "normal" or "ok" every one thinks it is and then in the end it slams it down and calls it for what it is -- unjust hatred and animosity for women. i'm probably overdoing my analysis because i wrote something about it for a soc. class. but i honestly loved this film and i only had two minor problems with the movie (and they were editing or sentimentalizing issues that are forgivable).

and if i still have not sold you two on it the fact that Frances McDormand is in it should be enough: that women is awesome. so i think you guys (and my other friends) should go see it or rent it when it comes out on dvd. then please tell me your thoughts.

you want to see the new pride and prejudice? the trailer makes it look closer to wuthering heights which it IS NOT. fuck it's not just a romantic story line suitable for the skinniest prettiest most popular actress one desperate casting agent can find. and darcy... puh-LEEZE. can you say go back to acrombie and fitch for fucks sake.

i love the story though, as i know you do, and the reviews have been good. i feel like i'd see it in any form. and i like kiera knightly. granted, not the first person to jump into my mind to play elizabeth...by any means...but i'll still see it and see what happens.

i saw good night and good luck tonight. it was soooo good. me lovey.
