Two Things I Learned Today

I don't know what's worse-that Rudy Giuliani has picked Norman "Bomb Iran Yesterday Or We'll Lose World War IV" Podhoretz as a senior foreign policy advisor, or that Mitt Romney's favorite book is Battlefield Earth. I've read Battlefield Earth, and anyone who enjoyed that book needs to be kept far, far away from seats of power and possibly taken in for psychological evaluation.

Seriously though, this pretty much reverses whatever positive feelings I might have had for Giuliani. Stormin' Norman is, I think, the undisputed king of batshit crazy when it comes to foreign policy discussion. This is a man who seriously believes that the threat of radical Islamism is on par with that of Communism during the Cold War, and even in that case he chided Ronald Reagan for not being aggressive enough with the Soviets. He is, not to put too fine a point on it, a raving idiot. He is everything I hate about pundits.

It's official: if (okay, when) Ron Paul's campaign fizzles out, I'm going back into my political hole and not coming out until after the election is over. These guys just suck too much.

on bullshit, linkage
