I've
said before that drug companies owe much of their profitability to their spectacular marketing departments, but have perhaps not emphasized enough that this is true on almost every level of decision-making between development and consumption; people make a big deal about DTC ads, but that's perhaps the least insidious route. Far, far more pernicious is the way they get
doctors and
medical journals to shill for them. To a first approximation, I now distrust any compound that's younger than I am, and even then I don't take anything these days without understanding its mode of action first. You and your loved ones should do likewise, where possible: the truth is, nobody is looking out for you.
