“You talked. Does that mean you trust me?” Kyuhyun teased the smaller playfully which earned a light punch on the arm. The former laughed again while rubbing his arm “Let’s start now or do you want to change your clothes first?”
Yesung shook his head and opened his textbook and notebook. “Ok. So what don’t you understand here?” Kyuhyun asked but the other just stared blankly at him in which Kyuhyun deciphered as a look of stupidity.
He sighed loudly, pulled out his notebook and handed them to Yesung. “Let’s start from the beginning. I wrote some easy to answer problems there for you to work on. This will also help me know where you need help the most. I’ll give you 30 minutes and it starts… now”
Yesung started immediately on the questions while Kyuhyun played on his PSP to kill time. The silence was comfortable for the both of them and it was relaxing. It was as if some music was playing inside the house or some aroma therapy candles to help them relax even more. The both of them didn’t bother questioning why they felt relax. Kyuhyun assumed it was because of his game while the other was nonchalant. In reality, it was because of their presence around each other.
Kyuhyun’s phone rang indicating that 30 minutes is up which made Yesung groan and bang his head loudly on the table. “Don’t worry if you didn’t finish. I just need to make sure what you’re capable of. Give me that”
Yesung reluctantly handed the notebook and buried his head on the throw pillow he pulled from the couch. When he heard a stifled laugh from Kyuhyun, he threw the pillow towards the offending man and sulked. The other couldn’t hold it any longer and decided to laugh loudly which earned another pillow thrown at his face.
“Rude” he mumbled.
Kyuhyun managed to stop his laughing fit and scoot closer to Yesung. Miraculously, he switched off his game console and gave his seatmate his full attention. “I gave you 30 minutes and you only managed to answer 3 out of 10 questions? They’re not even correct! I’m sorry for being rude but this… who wouldn’t laugh at this?” Yesung continued sulking and gave his tutor a hard punch on his arm.
The taller yelped in pain thus rubbed his arm. “How did you survive math? Scratch that, how do you manage to survive HIS class?” he asked in astonishment.
Yesung pulled out his notebook and scribbled his answer. “Oh! So now were back to the silent treatment? Come on! Speak up and drop the pen” Kyuhyun said in annoyance but the former continued scribbling.
“First of all, my brother is the one who constantly teaches me every end of the year so I could at least catch up. My grades by then would be either perfect or have a mistake lower than 5. Second, because you laughed at my incapability with the subject, I will not drop the pen and paper”
Kyuhyun laughed again. “I didn’t know you were emotional. We’re going off-topic though. Let’s start with the basics. How does he teach you anyway?”
“You don’t want to know” the two guys looked behind and saw a fiery-haired female-like man and gasped at the sight. The red-haired man walked towards them and plopped himself in between the two students. “I have him stay up all-night and I hit him hard when he answers it wrong. I guess with the way I taught him, he couldn’t really understand the use of the formula and ended up erasing everything he learned. That’s why he needs your help”
“That’s harsh. You really do that to your brother?” Kyuhyun asked- Heechul nodded in response.
Yesung trailed his finger on his brother’s hair; it had extensions affixed at the tips. “What did you do to your hair?”
“Oh this? I saw a game character’s poster and I told myself I like his hair and wait a minute did you just talk? In front of this guy?” Heechul asked exasperatedly.
Yesung raised an eyebrow and averted his gaze to his brother’s finger pointed haphazardly. “Don’t be surprised. Blame his best friend for leaving him with me” Kyuhyun replied in Yesung’s stance.
“Donghae?! Oh that bastard! He’ll get a piece of me! Wait for me here! Don’t go anywhere!” Heechul left with a loud slam of the door.
Kyuhyun scoffed and mumbled “As if we’ve got somewhere to go anyway” He cleared his throat before he continued “Let’s start from the basic. Get your textbook and find the topic about differential calculus, we’ll start there at least”
They were in the middle of discussing the rules of differentiation when Heechul came barging in. “Can’t you at least enter the house quietly? We’re trying to study here. You know, the promise I made?” Kyuhyun said sarcastically.
“Oh stop whining wolf! You can continue that later. In the meantime, guess what I found out when I went to Donghae” Heechul said as he strutted towards the couch and plopped himself in between the students.
The taller male scoffed. “That you were actually a girl who just had a sex change when you were drunk? Now that’s news” Heechul glared at him then prodded his forehead.
“Never, ever interrupt me when I’m talking understood?” the effeminate one said menacingly which made the taller one roll his eyes. He nodded dejectedly when the eldest poked his forehead again.
“Good. Now, what magic did you use on my brother that made him talk to you? He even laughed according to Donghae but he had no idea what you were laughing about. Did you drug him? Answer me now!” Heechul held him by the collar and it pulled the student near his face to make him stare at his menacingly fox-like eyes.
“I swear I didn’t do anything! Why are you blaming me when it’s all Donghae’s fault? He forgot to accompany your brother all the way inside. I didn’t know that much about him. Plus, we laughed at his randomness” Upon hearing the younger’s statement, Heechul eventually let go.
“You didn’t? How did you know what to do? Did he tell you everything?” the older asked flabbergasted. He was still in a state of shock with the information he got. Who wouldn’t be? The old couple from next door who happens to be Donghae’s grandparents took a month to have Yesung talk to them even though they were yes or no and one-worded answers. But this guy in front of him, he managed to make his brother talk within what? A week or so? If what Donghae said was right- he’s his only reliable source of information when it comes to his brother- then they’ve only known each other for less than a week!
Kyuhyun arranged his thoughts first before answering the older male in front of him. He decided it’s better for his well-being (and his life) if he chose the right words or else the effeminate person will strangle him to death or worse.
“He didn’t tell me everything. He’s still getting used to my presence I think. He only told me that his dominant fear is “The Living” whatever that means. Donghae then told me he’s scared of this place in which I find odd” the student finally answered although he was having an internal debate and a whole lot of questions.
Heechul contemplated a bit and loosened up his tensed muscles. He gazed at the younger intently then sighed. “There are a lot of things you still need to know about him and you’ll have to wait for him to open up to you himself. He’s judgment when it comes to people is way better than mine so I trust him about you” He patted him on the shoulder and gave him a small smile, rare because Kim Heechul only knows how to smirk.
“I found him earlier playing the piano and I think I heard a faint singing voice. He told me he sings but I couldn’t tell if he tells the truth. Does he really sing or was it just my imagination?” Kyuhyun inquired. He had no idea why that question left his mouth when there are other important questions swimming on his mind. Like, why do I have to wait for him to open up to me and what else are you two hiding but he couldn’t ask that. At the back of his mind, if he let those questions out, he could swear he might be dead before he ask for forgiveness.
“Yes he does sing but only in front of a few people. He doesn’t sing that often when he’s with Donghae either so that boy really treasures the moment when he does” he stood up and stretched his body a little. “Wake my brother up. He usually sleeps when he doesn’t like the subject that’s why he hates me whenever I teach him. I’ll be in the kitchen if you need anything”
The fiery-haired male left the living room and head straight to the kitchen, leaving the student with his thoughts. Kyuhyun brushed the hair away from the eyes of the sleeping figure and admired his face. “What else are you hiding and why am I so intrigued about you when I’ve only known you just now?” he mused internally.
