“I think I like you.”

Yesung sits alone in the piano room. His hands are ghosting over on top of the keys, not moving altogether. Everything’s inanimate, even him. He’s as still as a rock. He could’ve been mistaken as a doll if it isn’t for the water streaming down his cheeks.

Silenced fills the room. Tension rises. Too quiet. Too quiet for his liking but he doesn’t mind it. The silence which used to haunt him now becomes his solitary-his only companion. Silence is the only thing who understands him at this moment because nobody else does. Nobody else will.

One of his fingers starts moving as the rest follows. He pushes the keys and unconsciously producing a very sad melody-a sad melody depicting his state right now. Sad isn’t even the right word to describe neither his state nor the melody. Painful, hurt, broken-that’s his current state. That’s the reason why he’s unconsciously playing the melody and singing along with it. Because he’s sad and the feeling’s overwhelming that he needs to sing to let it all out. He doesn’t care that his voice is strained. He needs to sing because singing is his only way out.

“You like me huh…” Kyuhyun said in a menacing voice which sent shivers down Yesung spine. There was a hint of poison in his tone and with that said, Yesung knew from then on, everything would end up in a mishap.

“You’re kidding me right?” Kyuhyun continued. His eyes were still staring blankly at nothing. Yesung started to stand up and leave the room before everything ended up with something he knew he couldn’t handle. He was already up on his feet when Kyuhyun stood up as well and held his wrists. His grip was too tight it made Yesung wince.

“You like me? What kind of sick joke was that Yesung?” The grip tightened even more. Yesung tried to pull his arm but to no avail. Kyuhyun looked really pissed. No, not pissed. He looked really evil and angry and it scared the smaller male more than he imagined.

“You’re gay? You’re gay all along and you hid it from me?” he continued. “I hate gays. Gays should fucking die on this planet and they should never have existed. Gays are a disgrace to this planet.”

A tear rolled down Yesung’s eyes.

And another.

And another.

Tears kept rolling down his eyes. He tried to stop it, he really did. But if you’re facing the person you like looking angry and ready to kill you, who wouldn’t be scared? He had a history with that look, with being scared, with dying and Kyuhyun knew about it. Why was Kyuhyun telling him all this?

Silence filled the room and all that was heard was Kyuhyun’s panting and Yesung’s hiccup. Nobody uttered a word. They held their gazes but Yesung’s was blurred because of tears. He felt weak under the other male’s glare.

Yesung kept wiping away his tears and weakly tried to take back his already numb hand but to no avail. The grip was still tight. So very tight.

The silence was interrupted by a ringtone which happened to be Kyuhyun’s phone. He fished out his phone and answered it while looking at Yesung.

“Hey baby! What’s up?”

That stopped Yesung from crying as he stared at Kyuhyun horrified of what he just heard coming out of the latter’s mouth.

‘Baby?’

‘Was that for real?’

‘He has a girlfriend?’

Those were the questions running through his mind. Drops of tears cascaded down Yesung’s cheek as he was forced to listen to a conversation he never wanted to hear. He tried to desperately take his hand and run away from the room-to never come back but Kyuhyun wanted none of that.

“Yes, I’ll be there soon.”

Yesung kept struggling-struggling with all his might to free himself. He was desperate now and he’ll do anything to free himself from Kyuhyun’s clutches. He tried, he really did but he couldn’t because he was weak. He was weak then and now didn’t make that much difference.

“I love you,” Kyuhyun said, almost like a shout before he finally let go of the crying man’s wrist. Yesung flopped down on the floor. His legs finally gave up.

His heart. His poor heart was broken into a million pieces. His heart that was put up together when his parents were murdered was crushed again. His heart that took a long time to be fixed was once again broken into a million pieces.

He heard nothing. He saw nothing. He felt… nothing. It was almost surreal that he became numb after hearing those three words. Those three powerful words that ended the life of his poor heart. Three words. Just three words.

Kyuhyun watched him as he fell down but did nothing. He stared. Just stared at the man who confessed to him a while ago with a blank expression. Yesung didn’t look up at him but he wished he would. That was something he wished, just a wish.

“Lock the door when you leave,” Kyuhyun said coldly as he strode towards the door. He walked past the shocked male as if he didn’t existed.

He didn’t hear. He was deaf.

He didn’t see. He was blind.

He didn’t feel. He was numb.

Nothing made sense. It felt like a dream to him but he knew it wasn’t though he wished it was. He wished it was a dream and that he would wake up any minute now to see Kyuhyun once again with a smile on his face as if nothing happened.

But this was reality. Everything that had occurred was real and he couldn’t change that fact. It was real and he can’t deny that. The pain was real. Everything he heard was real. Everything he saw was real. He can’t deny that. No matter how much he wanted to, he just couldn’t.

He curled into a ball as he lied down on the floor crying and willing the hurt to go away. The pain he was feeling, the heartbreak he just experienced were all too much for his heart to handle. Everything was a mess.

‘Why was the pain too much? Did I really fall for him too deep? Did I love him more than I could handle?’ Thoughts ran through his mind like a chant, a mantra. He screamed but the only thing that came out of his mouth was a strangled cry. They said love was a wonderful feeling but he concluded that love really hurts.

He stands up from the piano seat as the song finishes but he wobbles because his legs are still tires. His body is tired from all the crying he did. He looks outside the window and see the sun has already set. His brother is probably waiting for him right now.

He fishes out his phone as he leaves the abandoned building to call Donghae. It’s already dark. He’s scared to go home alone so he calls Donghae to pick him up but he couldn’t say anything.

“Where are you?” Heechul. Donghae must’ve gone to his brother when he receives the phone call. He wants to answer. He really does but he couldn’t. Not when his tears flow down like a waterfall and his hiccups in the way of his speech.

Someone taps him on the shoulder. He shudders-too scared to know who it is. “Give me the phone. I’ll talk to him,” says a familiar voice. He’s already down on the ground because his legs have finally given up again. He looks up to see Eunhyuk with his hand upturned so he gives the phone to the older male.

“It’s me Eunhyuk. I’ll bring Yesung home… I don’t know what happened. I just happened to pass by and saw him crying on the ground… Yeah, I know the address. Bye.” Eunhyuk ends the phone call and kneels down in front of Yesung then wipe away his tears. “I don’t know what happened and I know you won’t tell me but please trust me enough to take you home.”

Yesung gives a small nod to the older male. He couldn’t answer verbally and the elder knew that. Eunhyuk gives a sad smile to the boy before lifting him up to his arms and carrying him back towards his car. The boy clutches the older male’s shirt and continues crying.
