So yeah. We had our mock trial tonight. (Note: I was a plaintiff attorney in a civil case in a mock trial for my law class)
And we didn't win. We didn't really lose either though. The jury ruled that while the defendant negligently transmitted HIV to my client, my client negligently had unprotected sex with him. So we don't get any imaginary money for damages. Sorry, Monopoly guy. The Parkline Railroad will have to be bought by the thimble. We didn't object as much as we should've, but since I wasn't ever questioning the witnesses I wasn't allowed to. I did get to angrily point at notecards, to tell the other members of my team to object. However, I can't reach the notecards (they were on the far side of the table) so that didn't go too well. Talk about the long arm of the law! Har har.
Still, it was actually really fun. Besides the fact that I love dressing up in suits and talking to people in chairs, I really liked the feeling of always being aware of everything--what the Jury seems to be thinking, the questions people are answering, the responses, etc. In fact, your cases whole point could change over and over again as the case develops. Fluid.
I should've played the race card. Or called in a surprise witness.
Today was such a gorgeous day too!
Sadly, now I'm lusting after warm, temperate, breezy weather, yet my mom tells me tomorrow is supposed to be cold again.
I'll probably update tomorrow to mention the results of the "To Kill a Mockingbird" auditions. Yeah, I auditioned after all.
Ta!
