Oxygen
Priya puts T to bed and as she leaves the small room he’s claimed for his own she isn’t surprised to see Anthony waiting for her. He’s leaning against the wall a few feet from the door, but his posture is anything but relaxed. His muscles are taught and his eyes are alert, staring directly at her.
When she lets her gaze lock with his she instantly feels the magnetic pull she’s only ever known with him. The distance between them closes in an instant and when their lips meet it’s like the first rush of oxygen after a long dive under water.
Lips part and tongues meet in a passionate frenzy. It has been so long since she’s felt this way-so long since she’s felt truly alive.
Anthony’s hands grip her waist, pressing her tightly up against him. She digs her hands into his hair, determined not to let him get away this time.
Eventually their mouths break apart, but neither one steps back-the feeling of being pressed together so intimately is something they don’t want to end. It’s Priya who breaks the silence.
“We need to talk,” she whispers into Anthony’s ear. His hand pauses its caress of her hair.
“I know,” he replies just as quietly. His voice is hesitant. She supposes she can’t blame him; there’s a lot they need to discuss and now neither of them can run away when the topics get difficult. They’re here for months. Together. With no way out. But she wouldn’t change that for the world.
Priya presses her lips lightly against Anthony’s cheek. Slowly she trails them over his stubble-covered skin until she finds his mouth once more. “But not tonight,” she murmurs against his half-parted lips. Once again she kisses him deeply. “I’ve missed you.”
Her returns her kiss with the same intensity, if not more. “I missed you too.”
