This is a fic I wrote before Rapture aired. It's taken me until now to work up the courage to post it. I'm letting people know right off the bat that it is intended to be vague. The actions of some characters are up for interperation, and it is up to the reader to fill in what happened behind the scenes if they are so inclined.
Title: Whiskey

I think you did a wonderful job with this, the emotion and the visuals are truly amazing. It's heart-breaking and really tugs at you, as a reader. I really liked the small changes you made and it flows very well.
The funeral was a small gathering of people, only close friends from the fleet. Helo was secretly relieved that the Old Man had passed away shortly after they’d made it to Earth.
This is one of my favorite paragraphs, I can see Adama having passed away after reaching the destintion and laying down all of his burdens. :)
It was Helo who insisted that she be buried next to Lee. He knew that despite everything that had happened between the two of them, it was something they would have both wanted. In death they could be together for eternity, something they hadn’t accomplished in life.Loved the last bit, I really can't see it ending any other way, in any case to be honest. It's so poetic and everything ( ... )

--*blushes* Thank you. :D

--Thanks, I'm glad the changes work. And after having made them I do see where the original was not quite up to par.

--I can see it to. And then there's the fact that I couldn't make him go through the pain of losing Lee.

--Poetic, hey? *g*
Thanks so much for reading (twice now) and for the encouragement. *hugs*

Aw, I'm glad that I could be of help. :) *hugs*

That too.
And I forgot to mention (though I did in my emails, LOL) that I really, really love that it's from Helo's POV, I think that's quite cool. :)

You're welcome but really, it's fun and I enjoy everything you write, ;) I'm like a groupie, hehehe *hugs*

I loved the song lyrics. I really want to hear the song. Is there anyway you could upload the song?
Well, great job as always.

It's written well, I love stories from Helo's perspective. It's very sad, but I could see it happening. Just a great story
--Thank you. :) And I do have a thing for Helo POV, and it surprises me that I haven't written a fic like this before.

--Actually, I did upload it. If you scroll to the top of the fic and click on 'Whiskey Lullaby' where it says This is a songfic for the song Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisely and Allison Krauss, you will actually go to a sendspace page where I uploaded it. I forgot to say so explicitly though. *scurries off to change*

This was brilliant - especially in your choice to tell the story through Helo's eyes. I loved the way that he sympathises with both Kara and Lee, and it's so sad how he sees what's going but is totally unable to help either of them despite his best efforts. Tragic in the best way.
Totally heart-wrenching, but I loved it. So glad you decided to post it!

--Thank you. I really don't think it would have worked from anyone else's point of view. :)

i really liked how you put this in Helo's perspective because he is the only one who can understand the full extent of the tragedy.
tremendous work!

I like the twist of them actually finding Earth. Looks like K/L really couldn't have a bright shiny future.
Looking at it from Helo's eyes was a lovely touch.

--Thanks. Apparently I have a thing with them not getting bright shiny futures on Earth. (Thinking back to Lips of an Angel)
Thanks for reading!
