Stargate SG-1: The Quest Part 2
I must say, that was a pretty kick ass episode. It might even be my favorite one of the season. :) I’m pretty sure this episode had it all: action, humor, special effects, good guest stars, an awesome plot and great character moments. It was completely engrossing and I loved it.
It was great how it picked up right where The Quest Part 1 left off. It’s been a while since I watched the last episode, but it only took me a few seconds to become absorbed in the story line.
The dragon was awesome, and it’s something I had never expected to see on SG-1. And when they were thinking of names for it… absolutely priceless. My favorite part of the episode had to be Teal’c saying “Perhaps Puff”. I actually had to pause the episode because I was laughing so hard. *g*
After they defeated the dragon I had not been expecting them to be transferred to another planet at all. The idea that it kept sending them to other planets automatically was great. It was also hilarious when Ba’al and Sam were trying to figure it out. Then when she punched him… another priceless moment. Though I must say, something about Sam in this episode just didn’t seem Sam-like. I’m not sure why, or what it was exactly, but something seemed… I don’t want to say off, but I’m sure you catch my drift.
I really loved Vala in this episode. Seeing her now reminds me of how much she’s grown and matured as a character. I find it hard to believe that I originally didn’t like her, when now she’s one of my favorite characters. I guess that just goes to show what some good writing can do.
When they found Merlin… boy was I excited. Lol. Unfortunately he had to die. For a while I was thinking maybe they’d get to keep him, because how cool would that be? But then he was saying that he was so tired, etc, and I pretty much figured out what was going to happen.
But just because I guessed it doesn’t make it any less cool for me. I love that Daniel now has these Merlin powers and memories, although I’m seriously worried. If he dies again… I’ll be mad.
Now, does he still have the memories and powers? I think he does, though I suppose there’s a slight chance he doesn’t. Guess I’ll have to wait for the next episode to find out.
One more thing I’d like to mention it’s Mitchell’s little speech to Vala. As much as I found it sudden and unexpected, it’s so true. I thought it was a really great moment for both his character and Vala’s.
This episode is memorable for so many reasons, and I’m not going to list them all. I’ll just say that I enjoyed it start to finish, and it’s one that I will definitely be re-watching when I find time. This could quite possibly be the best episode of the season, and I rate it at 95/100.
