Cellphones, rallies, and birthdays! Oh my!
So I broke my phone Saturday. Completely and utterly. As in it cannot be fixed or used ever again. Do Not Pass Go. Try not to shell out $200 for a new one.
I have cingular and insurance, so I can either pay $50 for a new phone of the same type, or I can wait one month when it's time for me to get an upgrade.
I'm waiting the month. I've been getting tired of that phone anyway, so why spend money just to get a new one when I've been wanting another?
So I asked my friends who had cingular to bring me an extra phone, if they had one, so I could use it with my SIM. I'm just getting one today. The problem? I am on a step team that just restarted practice and I'm supposed to be getting a call about a job interview. The phone is not yet charged up enough to be of use.
Onto other news, tomorrow there's this big Christian rally in my town. It's called the Just for Jesus rally and is being held at the state college. It's supposed to be really big and exciting and such. Last year I think they said over 5,000 people went. Over 1,500 were saved.
It's an excused absensce from school and everything, though that was a struggle. Really, all they went through to make it so made me kind of wary.
From what I heard, this rally was already approved by the parish (I'm in Louisiana, we have parishes) as an excused absensce from school. However, it seemed my school's principal didn't want to allow that. (I later heard she was just checking out all the facts before she said it was okay.) So instead the guy who was over the rally and this girl who goes to my school sued her.
Yep, sued her.
I'm not sure if the charges were dropped, but it is excused from school now. Their reasoning behind the suit was that she had allowed the Arabic Club to visit a mosque, and not allowing this would be discrimination. Also, the school can't decide when someone takes a religious holiday.
I'm not sure. I'd hate to believe that she wasn't going to allow it out of spite, because I actually like my principal. But if she did, I can't pity her current position.
I am hoping it's going to be fun, though. I'd hate to miss a day of school to go to it and it not be. I'd much rather miss a day of school to work on college applications.
