I wake in the six o clock hour
A lonely mist hangs over the start of the day
I know how my sister must have felt -
Such a quiet moment of the day
You can nearly hear the heartbeat
Of your sleeping lover
And it's a time reserved for me
Set aside, carved out of the day
A tiny moment of peace and solitude
Before the madness undertakes me
And so I savor this hour
And all the sounds that stir, one at a time
Waking, joining the day
I muster the strength for a deep breath
And I prepare myself for the same
