Well, my LJ peeps, this has been one fuckin' awesome day, if I do say so myself.
Background: Sunday, I bought some makeup from the Origins counter (the shopgirl was kind enough to give me the instruction on how to apply it for free.) It took up all my birthday money, but what the hell. I looked damned good when she was done with her little brushes.
Today was the first time I tried to put it on myself; I think it went quite well. It was therapy day and Dr. E's homework was to drive myself to the office for the first time, so I felt I needed that extra boost of confidence that only looking good could give me. (ha)
I was terrified when I got into the car, but when I turned my key, I heard one of my favorite songs on the radio (Led Zeppelin's "Fool In The Rain"), and I suddenly realized this was something I could do. And after I made that first left turn it all seemed a little more familiar.
So it was a good appointment, with Dr. E even sharing with me some of the stories of her misadventures as a newly-licensed 16-year-old driver. (Plus, we didn't get to my journal, which to be honest I haven't kept up with as I should.) When I got home, I actually wished I had somewhere else to drive. But there will be time for that later.
Made some time while the kids were napping to hunt up and read some hot DS9 slash (Garak/Bashir, Kira/Dukat)...yum!
And now, a geek moment: I actually got a comment on G4's Star Trek 2.0 chat tonight! Yay! And I've been getting some laughs from the other chatters, so that's always encouraging. (I watch so much G4 now, it's no wonder I bought myself that Nintendo 64 system last week. Heh.)
Since I've been feeling so empowered I thought I'd delve into the world of S2 LJ styles. I hope you like the result; the amazing header (from my favorite Deep Space Nine slash pairing) is courtesy of the icon goddesses at
stormfronticons, from whom I have also gathered up a plethora of gorgeous icons. Many thanks to them, since it would take me about 5 years to figure out all those little detail brushes! :D The new subtitle quote is from the condescending liner notes on an old album of Latin music Eric recently found and brought home. I thought it had a nice ring to it.
New journal layout, new look, new driving skills, and a new decision to "come out" and express myself a little more as a slash fan--a great day all around, indeed.
