From muliebrity, she of the many fun memes.

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
As they say on "Pardon the Interruption," gots to be the nog. Especially the spiked variety.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Wrapped. I love wrapping presents! (Santa? Santa who?)

3. Colored lights on the tree / house or white?
We only have white lights on the tree. As to decorating the outside of the house, we don't do it at all. I think it's kind of excessive anyway (not to mention expensive.)

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Not since I moved out here. Besides, it's way too dangerous for the kids.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
The day after Thanksgiving, or as soon after as possible.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Grandma B's oyster stuffing. Yum.

7. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
The light-colored fruitcake I make from Eric's grandfather's recipe.

8. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Decorating the house with my mom and sister.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
It's weird but I never believed in Santa Claus, no matter how much my mom tried. I told my sister about Santa when she was about three or four, and boy did I get in trouble.

10. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Nope.

11. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him?
None. Eric likes chocolate chip, though.

12. Snow! Love it or dread it?
I'm from South Texas and I live in Southern California. I wouldn't know snow if it (frost)bit me on the ass.

13. Can you ice skate?
Nope. Can't even roller skate.

14. Do you remember your favorite gift?
When I was a kid, my favorite gift was the microscope set my folks got me the year they said they were too broke to buy us any gifts. The favorite gifts of my adult life have been any form of cash or gift card.

15. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Seeing the happy looks on the kids' faces when they see lights or ornaments. Everything is magical and wondrous to them now, and I want it to stay that way as long as possible.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Christmas at Grandma B's.

17. What tops your tree?
A red velvet bow. We wanted something non-traditional.

18. Which do you prefer? Giving or receiving?
Both are great.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
Call me crazy, but I like the old school ones: "Good King Wenceslas," "I Saw Three Ships," et al. Occasionally, hearing "We Three Kings" will remind me of the Christmas pageants of my early childhood.

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum?
Yum, in moderation. I never can finish the really big ones and end up throwing them out.

21. What is your favorite Christmas special or movie?
"Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas," a real ghetto favorite. I love that it's about being poor at Christmas, trying to keep your family together and keeping things festive while you're busy trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents.
