Post this on your LJ if you're in an opposite-sex marriage and you don't want it to be "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage cheapens or hurts it somehow.
Seriously y'all, I saw the shittiest fucking thing this morning on my way to the gym. Huge throngs of people were marching down both sides of a major thoroughfare in our town holding signs in support of Proposition 8, the California anti-gay marriage measure. The worst thing is that so many people were honking and cheering as they drove past. I screamed at them and stuck my hand out the window in a thumbs-down gesture which I hope at least someone noticed.
Assholes. They really spoiled my morning. *is still seething*
Sarah was a bit freaked out that I was howling out the window at strangers so I explained to her that those were people who believed a very mean thing, who didn't want people to be different, who wanted to tell people who they could and couldn't love. I told her that God made everyone different and that God doesn't care whether we fall in love with boys or girls as long as we find love and care for each other and the world. Not sure if it was the proper way to explain those things but I think she understood.
I hate that I have to explain to her about such terrible things so soon. *sigh*
