Yeah, it's my birthday. For another almost-hour, anyway. I'm 33 today ("the hard six," as my bat mitzvah teacher says.) Thanks for the sweet birthday wishes, LJ peeps! ^_^
Forgot to tell y'all, I gave notice at my job last Thursday--and no, I don't have a new job yet. The woman at the job I thought I had a shot at never returned my calls. Any of them. But I got a thinly-veiled threat of firing from my supervisor and decided the time had come. How we'll pay rent, bills, etc. I'm not entirely sure yet.
Told the gals in my bat mitzvah class tonight about quitting my job. The teacher said I was leaving Mitzrayim ("the narrow place," Hebrew for Egypt.) And she was talking about Passover being a time to think about what of oneself one might like to leave behind in Mitzrayim before "crossing over to freedom" at the end of the holiday.
So I'd really like to leave behind my obsession with money and my constant fear of landing back in the poverty in which I was raised (a nice full circle, since this day last year I learned that we were in deep financial trouble so I had to get a job ASAP.) If I could just see that vanish beneath the waves as the sea settles back into its bed, well, that would really be something. Here's hoping.
