Will Work for Health Care?

I saw the oncologist last week. The tentative diagnosis is a form of uterine cancer called Adeno Sarcoma, which is somewhat rare and easily taken care of with a hysterectomy. They'll biopsy the uterus and take out a couple of lymph nodes just to be sure, and keep me under long enough to have the pathologist take a look to make sure there isn't anything easily identifiable. If there is, she'll take a lot of lymph nodes from various spots to see if it's migrated and we'll start talking about other treatment plans. She prefers robotic surgery, since it's less evasive and has a shorter recovery time, but I'll have to be tilted head down which causes the internal organs to push against the lungs. Since I have lung damage from Sarcoidosis, I have to have an ok from a pulmonary specialist, which means a chest CT scan and a breathing test.

All this is going to cost money. My school insurance pays 80% if it's done before August 12, but I don't have a job to pay the other 20% or even my current bills. And, since the surgery can't be scheduled until after I see the pulmonary specialist and has a 4-6 week recovery, I'm really trying not to panic. I saved enough money to get through June, but my doctor told me to figure on not being able to work until the end of July or first of August.

One thing I've learned from life is that things will work out, but that doesn't mean they're going to be fun for a while. Thank God for Xanax! And lottery tickets...they may be a wasteful expense but it gives me something to look forward to.
