Millie sat in the lab, bouncing a stress ball off her desk. Bounce. Catch. Bounce. Catch. This was what her work day was down to? She should've been glad there was a downswing in crime. But entertaining herself was getting old fast and it was only midday

David looked up and saw this blur fly toward him.

It took merely a split second to realise what was going on, and another one to choose not to bother catching it. He let the stress ball bounce off his desk and land on the floor.

"Heh. Whoops?" He looked over at Millie.

"You lie worse than Isa," Millie smirked. She held out the file. "Present for you from Captain Cragen."

"Now you're lying." David chuckled. "That doesn't look like a present." Despite that, he took the file. "Thanks."

"It's work - the gift that keeps on giving," she said.

[det_dresden_iab]

"Tell me about it." He nodded, flipping open the file and giving it a nod. Yep, this will be needed.

Millie looked around - not that there was much to see, but she was taking her time with the task at hand. It's not like she had anywhere pressing to be. She looked a bit like Isa when the little girl was up to something.

"So how's it going with you?" she asked, turning her attention back to David. It had been a bit since she'd seen him or Alex.

David looked surprised by the question, but he recovered. "I'm good. How're things with you?"

Millie shrugged. "Bored. I mean--in general, good. Right now, bored."

"No pressing work to occupy you, I take it?" David asked. He had to admit, he was bored today, too. It must be in the air.

"Nope," Millie said. She checked her cell phone. "No urgent texts from work or voicemails from Mike. Or Isa." She snorted.

"Your kid leaves you voice messages?" David asked, somewhat impressed. "They must interesting."

[nypd_millie_viz]

"We showed her how to use the phone in case of emergencies," Millie said, "So she can dial my number and Mike's. Now she won't stop calling. At least she can't text."

David laughed. "Not yet. At least you know she's alright."

Millie smirked. "That's true." She looked out the window. It was too nice a day to be indoors. "You wanna go grab coffee? Non-shitty, out-of-the-building coffee?"

David considered this for all of two seconds. "Sure. Anything to get me outta here." He gave a grin.

"You have a motor pool car or are we walking?" Millie asked.
