I am a fan of (most things) PBS. Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Wallander, Call the Midwife, etc...many moons ago as a teenager, the original Brideshead Revisited, and occasionally The Professionals. Anyway, tonight I stumbled upon The Crimson Field. ( continued... )

Oh, I've heard of The Crimson Field, but haven't seen it at all. I'll look out for it on my own PBS station.

I am so glad I had my cataract surgery! I did have follow-up laser surgery as well, because my eyesight was so poor, but now, for the first time since I was a kid, I do not need to wear contacts/glasses! Well, except reading glasses. I'm rubbish at the up-close reading now. (And discovered that I need different glasses for reading and for computer work. Argh.) The other thing that astonished me was how bright the world is. I hadn't realized how darkened my vision had become, because of the cataracts.

I did have to have another little thing done, about two years after the cataract surgery. They leave behind this little plastic cover that they put in place to cover your cornea while it heals. It's clear, so there's no actual need to remove it. But in a minority of cases, it can cloud up. That happened to me. I kept thinking there was a smudge on my sunglasses and on my reading glasses. Anyway, that was quick, but I had to go to the surgery center for it to be done.

Good luck!

Thank you! Yes, everything is much brighter now. The Dr explained that there is at least 3x as much light getting into the eyes now. I will need reading glasses as well. I cannot read fine print without a magnifier. I don't mind wearing glasses, but they are so expensive! I'm going to take my old glasses with me so I won't have to pay for new frames.
