Saturdays
A very wet and miserable day here. I was hoping for a dry day, to finish up some yard work. Oh well. The wind last night was really strong. Gusts up to 50 mph. It wasn't raining yet, so I took some linen out and shook it to blow the dust and pet hair out of it. There was a frisbee laying in the back yard, but it has disappeared. Must be in Montreal by now. I noticed one of the trees on the property line lost a big branch onto my neighbors fence. I'll have to go move that later.
According to my sister, my mother is making noises about moving to independent living. Problem is, my mother is not independent. She can take care of her own personal needs, but does not doing anything that would qualify her for independent living. Assisted living is very expensive, and would place a larger burden on my sister, since the obligation of visiting and accommodation would fall on her. I would not visit any more often than I do now, if she were in assisted living. Nor would my brother or other two sisters, who are out of state. For now, she is better off at home with my sister, until the time comes when she really needs more care. She refuses to go and live with my one sister in Utah, who is more than willing to have her there. She would have her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc...doting on her. We don't know why she won't go. It's a dilemma.
I did get paid, late and early. They combined the four days lost pay with the two week normal paycheck and gave it to us four days early. Big deal. All the people that were told to stay home during the shutdown got paid the same as those of us who had to go without pay but still report to work. So they got 14 days of paid vacation. My co-worker and I decided that if this happens again in February, we are staying home.
The dogs and I went out for shopping and errands earlier, now I gave them each a bone to keep them busy for a while. I'm thinking glass of wine and maybe a nap for myself.
