Drama

What a week. I don't even know where to start. Drama, drama, drama.

My ex-bf's mother fell and broke her hip. She's at least 85, never wants to go to the doctor, let alone be in the hospital. He called to tell me what happened. He is not the most organized person on the planet. I reminded him to call his siblings, and to get their asses up here to help him help her. Which they did, but then promptly went back to their homes after her initial surgery. Now she is at a rehab facility for at least a month. She thought she would go home after the surgery, but not so. After this, she may have to go live with her daughter for a while.

Tuesday, I pick up Meg from doggie daycare. The owner informed that she is (still) being snappy with the other females. We are trying to determine what the issue is. Besides having a puppy in the house. A now very large male puppy that she is alternately aggressive and maternal with. This Tuesday, I am taking him to daycare to be evaled. If he goes to daycare with her on the same days, she may calm down. Hopefully. Or she may become more aggressive if she thinks the other dogs are threatening 'her baby'. It's a complicated dynamic and probably seems ridiculous to most people, but these dogs are my family. Meggie is a rescue and Kodiak is my first puppy. Their well being and happiness is as important to me as my own.

Kodiak still gets carsick. Even with no food, benadryl, dramamine or nothing. Poor guy. Today, I made dog biscuits with ginger, hoping he could eat these before a car trip and it would settle his stomach. I baked the cookies and... he won't eat them. LOL! Figures. Meggie ate them, she seems to like them. Not Kodiak. Our trainer at puppy class recommended ginger snaps to settle the stomach, so I guess I will have to buy some. Which I am sure he will eat, because they have sugar and preservatives in them.

Thursday night, after being outside for 30 minutes, we came inside and I found a tick on Kodiak. GAH! Meg was licking at his foot. I went to check it and found the tick. Pulled it off, drowned it in alcohol. Keeping it just in case. He's on preventative medicine, but you never know. I had a female dog that was bitten by a tick and she tested positive for Lyme disease. She never got sick, though the vet prescribed cautionary antibiotics for two weeks.

I took him for a very short ride yesterday. He did not get sick. We sat in the truck, not moving, just sitting. Then I started the truck, let it run, drove up and down the driveway, then stopped. We went to a store, about a half mile from home, got out and walked around, smelling all the strange new things. We'll be doing that again today. Baby steps.

My co-workers daughter is returned from the Peace Corps yesterday. He was concerned because his wife was picking up the daughters' dog (on a different flight) at JFK on Friday. He didn't bring his cell phone, so he could not call her and she didn't call him to let him know what was going on. He was preoccupied all day. They were picking up the daughter on Saturday at Burlington. Hopefully Sarah and dog are home safe.

I took my truck in to have the latest repairs completed. $875. sigh. So much for this years tax return. Half anyway. No new toys for me. I was hoping to buy a moped or a scooter for the work commute. And for fun. I had a moped in college that I drove back and forth to work. I had a motorcycle since 2000, but sold it last year. I didn't ride the bike enough in the past few years. A scooter would be easier to ride and maintain.

Hoping for less drama this coming week.
