(no subject)
My new Arashi keitai strap has died. It hasn't even been a month! My phone was buried under my pillow, and when I grabbed it, the strap got caught. I tugged it free, and...beheaded the caterpillar. Poor caterpillar.
Anyway. The Hanadan Final countdown excitement continues. I'm enjoying my Returns DVDs very much. Especially since the premiere and the finale are extended director's cuts. I haven't watched the finale yet, but the premiere extended cut offered Toma and his minions stripped down to their boxers, so I have high hopes for the finale extra footage.
And so, picspam. Yes, I have already picspammed this two-hour episode once. But this time, the caps are DVD quality, and I've gotten much better at making them pretty!
THOUGHTS:
+ I own the same edition of The Great Gatsby as Rui's. I already owned a copy and already had it with me in Japan, since I love that book. And yet I saw the Rui edition and had to buy it.
+ I also own the same green pencil chopsticks Tsukushi eats with. I wanted them ever since the premiere aired, and I finally found them about three months ago!!
+ Tsukasa is so six years old in this episode. He's pretty much always six years old, but this time he spends the entire time harping on about how he's a GROWN-UP NOW. But really...six. Especially in the scene where F4 comes to his apartment, and he throws his temper tantrum. I love Akira in mommy!mode, all, "Now, Tsukasa, is that any way to treat the friends who came all this way to see you?"
"I didn't ASK you to come."
"OH COME OVER HERE AND SAY THAT YOU LITTLE-"
"Now, now, Soujirou. Tsukasa, we haven't seen you in a very long time."
"HMMMM MAYBE THAT'S BECAUSE YOU GUYS NEVER COME TO SEE ME??"
I love it. This entire episode he's like, "FEED MY NEED FOR AFFECTION. I AM GOING THROUGH TRAUMA WHILE TRAPPED IN A CITY WITH A MOTHER WHO NEVER HUGGED ME AS A CHILD. NOT EVEN ONCE. SHE DID STRAP ME TO A CART AND HAVE ME WHEELED AROUND LIKE HANNIBAL LECTER THAT ONE TIME, THOUGH. IT WASN'T ENJOYABLE."
+ At the same time, I love the final scene where Tsukasa is freaking out and snapping at Mama Doumyouji, and she just sips her champagne and chides him for being rude in front of the guests. She is so horrible. ♥
+ Tsukushi's breakdown to Tsubaki breaks my heart every single time. "I'll tell only you the truth, Neesan. I really did love Doumyouji. I can't think of anything else but him. Even when I try to concentrate on other things, I only end up thinking about him. But I can't stand myself being like that. So I'm trying to forget him. But I can't imagine a world without him..." (Or something like that, I don't remember the whole speech exactly...) If anyone other than Tsukushi were saying such a speech, it would sound so over-the-top, but because it's her saying it just this one single time, it's totally heartbreaking.
+ I still plan to do a picspam centered on Rui's hair and its plans for world domination when I have time. Until then, please note that his hair is eating his face in almost every single cap here that is not a flashback to S1.
