Jinkies, where to begin? We packed up and moved from Virginia, me home for over 40 years, to New York on Saturday evening around 8:30 pm. The drive wasn't too bad, considering I had to have me dog Whisper (who weighs around 75 lbs) sittin on me lap the ENTIRE time! It took us 12 hours to get here an let me tell ya, by the time we got up here, I was EXHAUSTED! So the first thing we did when we arrived was of course sat and got acquainted in real with our roommate, Blake, whom we had met online a while back. If ya kept up wif me posts, you'll know of whom I speak. Anyhoo, the 2nd thing we did was take a nap before we started hauling all our stuff up da stairs! Yes, we live on the 2nd floor now. Quite a change for me, an at times it's a bit difficult, cause of me right side being weakened by all the seizures, but I'm adjusting. So we got up a few hours later and proceeded to start bringing the stuff up (well actually, it was mostly Lan an Blake, but I did bring up the little stuff now!) Got most of it up, then decided to do the rest the next day. We had the U-Haul for 4 days. So, to make a long story short, we're all moved in. Yayyyyy! Next couple of days we start calling to get some services turned on. On the 21st of June we called Verizon to get hooked up with DSL service. No problem they said, we'll getcha hooked up by the 7th of July tentatively (crikey, when they say tentative, they reallly mean that...you'll see as I go on). The customer rep. said that they would send a technician out on Tuesday, the 29th of June to install the line. Whohoohoo! Then the customer rep said that they would be sending us the installtion kit for the DSL. Once again now, they said the tentative date was July 7th. No prollie there, right? As a matter of fact, they actually started out ahead of schedule! On Friday, the 25th of June, the technician arrived to install the line. Fantastic we thought, hey, maybe we'll get turned on even sooner than we anticipate? We'll see. So we waited, an waited an waited. Now it was getting kinda close towards 7th of July. No UPS package yet. Hmmmmm...maybe we better call. So Lan did. He spoke to another customer rep with DSL an he said that they were still checking to see if they had an open line available, but ASSURED us we would have the package in time for the scheduled startup date of July 7th. Well guess what? the 7th of July came and went. No package, no update, no nothing. Again....Lan called. Well this time were were told that they had JUST finished checking the area for an open line (now are ya keeping track of the dates with me...seeing a wee bit of a pattern here...like...how freakin long does it take to check a damned line?) They apologized, of course the sweet dears, an said that the service date would now be the 16th of July now. Again, they assured us that the service would be turned on then. Ok...we're gettin a wee bit concerned, but stayin calm, cool an collected.
So here we are the week of the 16th of July, an no pkg. Ok....NOW we're gettin a wee bit hot under the collar. So on the 14th of July, Lan again calls the company. Ahhhhh they said! The package was sent out via UPS on the 13th of July and once again, assured us we would get the package any day now, but that they would need to bump our service date AGAIN PEOPLE, this time to the 21st of July!!!! At this point Lan an I are so LIVID...he decides to call the corp DSL office. Now I do hope that you are sittin down, because you're not going to believe this! Lan is told by the customer rep at their corp DSL office that I'm sorry sir, but it looks like your order had been dropped out of our system twice. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...an that even if we do happen to receive our package on the 16th of July (which in fact we did), there was no way the service could be turned on that day. WHATTTTTTTT! You've gotta be kiddin me! Let me speak to a supervisor....after Lan waits wut I thought was an extremely long time to be connected to a supervisor, he ish told that there ish nothing that they could do, that the soonest they could connect us would be the 21st of July, possibly the 19th. UNACCEPTABLE PEOPLE....but in the meantime, they could set us up with a temporary dial up account...I DUN FREAKIN THINK SO HERE...so Lan hangs up....tells me wut all he was told....so then Lan calls the local cable company here, says all we have to do ish sign this contract, an pick up an installation kit....OMG....is there light at the end of the internet tunnel here? Lan an I talk bouts it, we deicde screw it...cancel DSL order an go wif the cable! So we did. Now the contract was mailed out on the 14th of July, the coordinator said we would get it in the mail the next day. Ok...no prollie...hell we've waited this long...wut's another day gonna matter? Well, the next day came an went. No letter...ok....IS THERE LIKE A CONSIPIRACY OR SOMETHIN HERE? So again, we waited on Friday, the 16th (which if you remember, was the 2nd tentative DSL startup date). Again, no letter. OK....if someone ish playin a joke on us, at this point we have NO sense of humor here! So Lan calls up our cable rep again. We told him wut happened, bouts no letter arriving. He said that's not normal, that we should have received it. So you know what this man did? He personally came by our house an not only dropped off the contract for us to sign an then take back, BUT he also brought the installtion kit with him so we wouldn't have to go pick it up. See, we had explained to him the DSL hell we'd been going through. Now I know that cable internet ish more expensive, but at least they come through! Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......we were finally able to get back online on Friday evening, the 16th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's so good to be back online, have missed everone. It's quite different here than where we used to live. But I love it! It can get hot up here? But omg....hardly much humidity...I can breathe! And I canna wait for this winter when I get to see actual snow (call me crazy but I love snow!) I know I have a lot of catching up to do, an hopefully I will this week, but for now, I best get me tushy to bed. It's almost 6:30am...lolol
I bid you adieu dear journal, until next time.....
