I have come to a new level of holy shit.
My master plan as far as the shed went was to get instruments in there and to get whatever sound came out of there on tape. Be it solo drum sessions or jam sessions. The other day to aid my cause, Javone got me a little hand held tape recorder. I would have been perfectly content with just that set up, listening to the tapes in my car but last night the last piece of the puzzle was put into place. I hooked the tape recorder up to Skeletor. So, with two sessions in my back pocket, one of just a drum track and the other a jam session with my brother in law, I started my journey into sound. Mind you, I japped a copy of Cool Edit Pro off of Soulseek a while back, so after I reinstalled that back in, that's when the fun really began.
My first experiment was to take a 30 second clip of a beat I put together in my drum session. After I was done with it, not only did it not sound like it came out of the shed, it didn't even sound like a drumset. To say the least I was very pleased with the possibilities that this new set up presented to me.
Then it hit me, just how much material I had available to me. Riffs or beats from any song on the planet, audio samples from dvds, weird sounds from the internet, commercials from tv, the possibilities were as far as my imagination could take me.
My ultimate musical goal has always been to make electronic music based off of live music from drums, guitars and bass. with the way things are looking, attaining that goal is right on the horizon.
