Me: "I have a lot of trouble driving at night. When there's an oncoming car, I slow down because I can't see the road or any of my surroundings. I try to remember where the road was and wait for the car to pass. It's a big problem for me on dark roads. When there's a lot of street lights it's not really that big of a deal, but my drive to and from work isn't lit."
Eye Doctor: "Well, in your left eye there's a small defect. Probably congenital. That's causing the light to scatter, which is what causes the flare. Basically, you're going to have to learn to live with it. I could give you glasses for that, but I'd rather not. You really just should deal with it."
Me: "Oh. Or I could close my left eye when there's an approaching car?"
Eye Doctor: "..."
Honestly, physicians can be the dumbest people. What kind of medical professional tells someone with a potentially dangerous problem to just buck up and stop being hysterical? UGH. No more male doctors for me. Reminds me of the time I went to the ER with very severe pain (which turned out to be a ruptured ovarian cyst) and the doctor said, "I don't want to give you any pain meds. Just go home and relax."
I can see why some women develop a habit of buying shoes. Sometimes there's no other solution for other people's poor logic but to treat yourself to something shiny.
