I know the pieces fit, cuz I watched them fall away

I listen to the patter of drops hitting the floor.
Like the ticks of a pendulum, they keep track of the endless instants.
tick, tock. tick tock.
If I concentrate and watch, the drops slow and it seems as if the world stops and each single drop pools; slowly gathering substance until the undeniable force of gravity forces to fall inch by inch, instant by instant until the splatter of destruction arives.
As I watch this I wonder if time has truely slowed to a crawl or if my sense of it has acelerated. and what would happen if that little drop never reached the ground? Taking an eternity to traverse the few feet to the awaiting tiles.
The shock has long since passed and I feel nothing but the facination of watching this all important meaningless event.
tap,tap,tap,tap,tap,tap.....
I stoped counting long ago, the numbers having lost their meaning being simply words. Constrained mesurements of something far beyond simple words.
another drop pools seeming almost hesitant to leave. But nothing can stop the enevitable, and eventually it succums to the forces and is riped away to plumment to a pointless end ricocheting off the slicked floor to join the rest.
