*grins* That sounds familiar. =)
Never mind the fact that I"ve been "into" things British since I was... hmm... 9 or so, I think... a little over 20 years. And I can fake a British Accent too... and have!
BTW, I would recommend the Anne of Green Gables series, as well as the Emily series by the same author... (not on the list)... be warned, though, that just because they're from the same author, the characters are pretty different.
A few more I'd recommend off the list: Black Beauty by Anna Sewell Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl (loved the book... the movie, IMO, was eh...) His Dark Materials can also be found in a trilogy (Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, Amber Spyglass) and is weird... ;) The Secret Garden is good... Winnie the Pooh is too. ;)
All but the "His Dark Materials" stuff is more children's lit, but then again... they call the Harry Potter series "childrens books" too... so, who knows? ;)
Some things I've read... ;)aberrantvirtueMay 19 2003, 22:39:42 UTC
The God Of Small Things, Arundhati Roy Guards! Guards!, Terry Pratchett Memoirs Of A Geisha, Arthur Golden Love In The Time Of Cholera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Anything by Terry Prachett or Gabriel Garcia Marquez I highly reccomend, but those two I especially loved.
The God of Small Things satisfied the part of me that has a fascination with all things Asian (yes, India is part of Asia). And Memoirs of a Geisha was a fascinating, though somewhat mysoginistic, view of women in Asia during its given period in time.
