So this afternoon was really quite exciting (for me anyway).
After I got home from working at the local markets, I was outside with some of the leftover bread, feeding it to the chickens. I threw some into the backyard too, as a treat for the kookaburras/magpies. So I was sitting there when SUDDENLY a regent bower bird appears out of nowhere and starts munching on the bread. This was awesome in itself, since these guys are usually super shy and will throw a spazz and fly away as soon as they see you, and seeing one is pretty cool since they're pretty uncommon. This guy decided to carry the bread down to the edge of the forest where he was joined by ANOTHER regent bower bird! At this point I was kicking myself for not having a better camera with a decent zoom. But as I looked up again, I notice that, once again, ONE MORE APPEARS OUT OF NOWHERE.
This was a pretty big deal, since I've never seen more than one at a time before. No one in my family has ever seen 3 regent bower birds at the same time.
SO YEAH. I WAS A SUPER NATURE NERD AND SAT THERE WATCHING THEM FOR AGES. HAHAHA.
LOOK AT HOW PRETTY THESE BIRDS ARE, GUYS. AND IMAGINE THREE OF THEM ALL TOGETHER.
I wish I could have gotten pictures of them.
WELL YEAH.
