Your favorite electronics, the ones that you use every day, will only fail and cease to function at a time when you absolutely cannot afford to replace/repair it.
If you do go looking for a replacement, may I recommend the Sansa Fuze (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1256)-SanDisk_Sansa_Fuze.aspx). SanDisk makes a decent line of mp3 players (Clip, Fuze, View) that have very similar functionality to the iPods, plus an FM tuner, but for about half of the price. I really like these players, and hope to replace my own mp3 player with a Fuze at Christmas.
Plus, I'm biased against Apple products in general. Any company that covertly puts a "kill switch" in their products so that they can remove software that they don't approve of from a CONSUMER'S piece of hardware gets a big HELLNAW FUCKTHAT! from me... Not to mention their stranglehold of proprietary connections and software. Boo on Apple. BOO.
