This summer is the first time I've ever worked as a waitress, and honestly, its not been that bad. On a good shift, when I'm making decent money and we aren't seriously weeded or anything, it can be sort of fun, even. I've had some really good shifts--nights where I walk out after a 4 or 5 hour shift with $90 something bucks and a smile on my face. But all too often recently I've been walking out with like $30, after more like 6 hours. Or like $15 on a lunch shift that eats up most of my day that would be more profitably spent at my desk job. Last night I worked from 6 to Midnight and only made $47. Today I worked a lunch shift (albeit a brief one) and only had one table and made $5.
$5
*sigh*
I think I'll be putting in my two weeks this weekend. This just doesn't make financial sense anymore.
