That's what my throat feels like. I don't have strep (thank GOD) but I do have a wicked sinus thing happening, with horrible drainage that has destroyed my throat. It's very frustrating, since I can't do much about it. I had to miss my IFOR shift tonight because I can't talk, which is a serious drag since it's Friday night and I might have made some mad bank. I will also miss the two performances that I had planned for this weekend with my buddy Kathryn from Church choir. It's her going away shindig before she leaves for the Yale Sacred Music Institute, and I was really looking forward to singing with her again. We were going to sing Purcell and a great Monteverdi duet with Gamba. Damn.
Ah well. Life goes on, and there's no point getting upset about something I can't change. I just have to be careful, since I'll be vulnerable to vocal damage for awhile after this. I'm on vocal rest until further notice, and am doing my best not to talk. Its a nerve wracking thing to put the success of your future career on the health and functionality of your body. It's a good motivator to take care of yourself, though.
I wish I had something more interesting to talk about...My life is blessedly dull just now, though. Off to lay on the couch and drain and not talk.
