The Inn of the Seventh (IPod) Happiness

Been home most of the day recovering from a cold (brought on by the dust-digging of Sunday afternoon's labors and aggravated by last night's AWESOME Neil Young concert. I finally had a few minutes for home self-MIS today, setting up a new keyboard and mouse for the desktop computer in my office. Although it's a nice desktop ( A Mac Mini bought as a backup machine at the suggestion of my good friend epinephric, it has remained largely dormant being used mostly as a music-storing facility. But now with the old crappy wireless keyboard and wireless mouse replaced by sleek new (hard-wired) components. I think I may be using this computer more in the months to come.

There is something peaceful, zen-like and productive about being back in my old office, my old, somewhat better organized and somewhat cleaner tho still a mess WRITING ROOM, the temple of Paul from which great thought shall be produced and reign down unto thee like the guitar chords of Pete Townshend. Not to mention, there ids appeal to the concept of sitting at an actual desk (in my case, it's a big IKEA dining table that I bastardized into desk duty) and working instead of sprawling on the couch with the laptop. For one thing i think that this is better for me ergonomically. For another thing and this is just stream of consciousness I cannot believe how fucking fast and (mostly) error-free I can type on this keyboard. Normally it takes me a while to get used to a new set of keys but this new Apple model is da shiznit, yo.

In other news, the good Jenius Bar folks at the Staten Island Mall Mac store replaced the wonky backup pod I had NOT been using (it had a weird glitch)and I am in the process of programming its little brain with the ballsiest of ballsy tunes. (Wow! four balls in one sentence! That's a walk!) This may mean we have a Pod DJ for those long road trips--if technology to hook one up to a car stereo improves.
