Where where you September 17th, 1991?
I'm totally stealing this idea from Idolator.com, but I thought it would be fun. They have a post asking people what they remember most about the above date, which happens to be the last time Guns N' Roses put out an album of original material.
I went down to Tower Records to get the album(s) (Use Your Illusions I and II) at midnight. And wanted it so bad that I missed a chance to stand on line and meet Ozzy Osbourne. I got the album. Two cassettes. And then went back to Fordham by the D train. Walked down a deserted Fordga Road (about a mile) scared shitless. Made it back to the campus . Stayed up all night sitting in the hallway on the floor in my dorm (Sesquicentennial Hall) listening to the whole record. Both tapes.
Today, some of those songs still hold up. My favorites are:
1) Breakdown
2) Estranged
3) Bad Obsession
4) The Garden
5) November Rain
I'm a sucker for an Axl epic. And by the way I've heard 9 cuts from the new record and I love it.
