Behind the Mask

or...Have You Hugged Your Face Today?

So I had my second visit to a sleep center (a new and nicer one in my neighborhood run by Maimonides Hospital) last night. Two hours into the session, I was woken up and it became a "split sesson"--I got my initial titration for a CPAP machine. I had the full head harness with the straps around my big noggin to hold the mask in place. See the following diagram:

I slept really well (mask and humidifier, high pressure) though I woke up at 6am this morning feeling like I was getting no air. Happily, nothing burst out of my chest and sang "Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal!" I was frightened but got the tech--he saw that I was panicking and feeling like I could not breathe. The tech informed me I had just slept for five hours straight and that I did "really well." So I treated myself to breakfast at the Americana Diner and walked home.

Today, feeling more energized and getting some work stuff done or at least trying to.
