We all know/heard of the support American Jews provided to the Soviet Jewry in the second half of the twentieth century. I have recently learned of another show of political solidarity for Russian Jews from early twentieth century. American Jews had pressured US administration into providing special clause into US-Russia treaty to ensure that US Jews traveling to Russia would receive treatment equal to other US visitors. Prior to that, in accordance with the Russian law, Jews were treated separately and as poorly as native Jews.
