I'm done with school.
Sure, I've still got finals, and another semester, and possibly seven more years of education awaiting me. But after wrapping up the physics GRE, my quantum and bio exams, and everything else I had going on the last few weeks, I'm done. It feels good.
We got our 8-bit Nintendo hooked up in the common room a few weeks ago. It's uncanny how, even if you never had a system, you remember everything about those games. Like, punch sequences on Mike Tyson's Punchout. Or, the location of the secret whistles in Mario 3. Or the progression of the bosses on TMNT II. The Contra code. When Dragon Warrior tells you, "Thou art dead."
Man, how are those games so much fun? They substitute pure pattern recognition for gameplay and insane button mashing for compelling storylines. Yet as much as I enjoyed my time at my bro's with Halo 2, I would have enjoyed extolling the virtues of Fat Guy from Ice Hockey as much or more.
