Goin' South
So I'm back in R-town and mostly settled in for the month. The final symposium for the summer went well and the poster describing my research looks really good. It'll be down in the science center basement if you ever want to check it out.
Tomorrow I'm driving down to Arkansas with my brother. His best friend since he was five had a breakdown last week and is in pretty tough shape. He's been there for a few months doing officer training for the Air Force and I guess the isolation just got to him--no family around, probably few friends, and his fiancee goes to school in Texas. Anyway, we're going to head down there and see what we can do. I expect the drive to take between 12 and 14 hours and I should be down there until Wednesday night, I expect. Should be an adventure--I've never spent time in the South before.
It's kind of a bummer, because this is the week my family was planning on being up at the cabin and we're going to miss it. I was looking forward to doing some fishing or boating or something. Well, what can you do...I'm going to get some sleep so i can get an early start tomorrow.
