I am pleased with the progress I'm making so far with my trigger foods. (Trigger foods are foods that I find difficult to stop eating once I have started; I have not had these foods in my home in years.)
This week I've been having an unlimited amount of ice cream. First I bought a 500ml tub of Haagan Dazs and a litre of Cart D'Or. That evening I ate 90% of the Haagen Dazs. The day after I had the remaining Haagen Dazs and a small portion of the Cart D'Or, immediately regretting buying CD as it is crap quality. I ate the CD over three days or so, and bought 2 litres of good quality cornish ice cream when I had run out of ice cream. (The idea is that I keep on replacing the trigger food until I finally get used to it being around.) I ate quite a lot of the toffee flavour cornish ice cream, but was ok about that.
Last night (my birthday evening), I ate: a small portion of vanilla ice cream with squirty cream, fresh blueberries, meringue and decent chocolate sauce. I did not want any more. I DID NOT WANT ANY MORE. I was very surprised. I had a small box of Belgian chocolates and DID NOT EAT THEM as I was full. I was full... and this made me stop eating. This is a new thing! Usually feeling full doesn't stop me eating.
Meanwhile I've had some all butter shortbread biscuits in my kitchen for 48 hours and haven't eaten them yet. I will eat some or all of them when I want to.
Unsurprisingly I have gained a small amount of weight. With my training plan it should have a minimal long-term effect. I'm watching my weight and will take breaks between introducing foods to lose a couple of pounds. I'm really not worried about the weight thing, but that is largely because I'm keeping an eye on it.
Next savoury thing to introduce (I think): whole chickens (including skin).
