It looks like I'm going to do another walk across London to doubtfulace's flat. According to the RAC routeplanner it is three and a half miles by road. Absolutely doable. I'll get the bus back though, I don't want to lose muscle with that rather yucky self-cannibalisation thing that goes on when you do too much cardio in one day. Also, it would be too much for me at my level of fitness/weight. I'll take my camera with me.

I was just listening to a very interesting episode of Nature on Radio 4 about London's lost rivers, you can listen to it online for the next week using the listen again feature. The most famous one is the Fleet. There's a project in South London that has restored a part of the river Quaggy, which was previously encased in concrete. There's a fascinating map of these rivers here. To the north, you can see the Highgate Ponds which are/were(?) connected to the Fleet river. Then there's the Tyburn which is shown filling the lakes on Regent's Park, and the Westbourne is shown filling the Serpentine in Hyde Park. I'm not sure if this map is how things were or how things are, maybe one of you can tell me. Wikipedia has a nice little article on the Subterranean rivers of London.
