Hmm...so what have I done the past week...
I went to two community service events; SHARE YOUR MIND and a Sacred Heart Community Service event. They were both quite fun and interesting.
At SHARE YOUR MIND, I had a very interesting conversation with this Japanese person from Japan. Why? Because he was a bloody neurosurgeon! Crazy huh? Turns out he was here to do research at Stanford on strokes. His research was to help create medication to either lower your chance of having a stroke or at least reducing the severity of the symptoms. Most of our entire conversation was based on his research and I had a delightful time learning about the experiments he was conducting. But something not about his research I found interesting was this...did you know that in Japan, med students don't specialize in a field? As in they don't attend more schooling after their general med school education. Instead, they study every field, so after med school, they can choose to be any kinda medical doctor. In essence, there is no difference in education between a cardiac surgeon and a neurosurgeon even though they're two completely different organs...crazy huh? This is what he told. I asked him, "so in theory, u could just become a pediatrician tomorrow just because you feel like it?" He replied, "Yes, all i have to do is fill out some paper work and I could be a pediatrician". That is insane!
At SACRED HEART COMMUNITY CENTER, Katie and I arrived 30 min late. haha. But I think it was totally worth it. Instead of doing grueling labor like pack paper bags with groceries or sort through dirty clothing, instead we got to create a giant poster for them...basically a throwback to MCC club stuff. We drew and we colored until our hands hurt, but I must admit, for the time we had to do it, we created a pretty looking poster. haha. Katie's back bag looked really good..a lot better than mine did. Hmm...it was pretty fun event.
Afterwards, we went to the Obon Festival in Japantown where we ate beef teriyaki kebabs, cream-filled buns, and I drank some calpico drinks. The festival itself was kinda boring though. Japantown is really small and there wasn't much to see or do. They had some Taiko performances, but honestly once u've seen it once, u've seen them all. Sure there are different girls and some are pretty cute (at least from what katie told me. hhehe) but seriously, it's all the same. Katie and I probably watched for like a minute before heading off to visit Addi at Nagita Grocery or something. I've been there before, i don't find it to be special. U can buy their stuff for cheaper at 99cent Ranch.
Hmm...what else have I been doing? Nothing really. Just kicking back with Glenn's bros and Suzanne. I see Suzanne more often than I see Audrey, isn't that sad? considering it's audrey's house. Oh well. But yeah, I am getting along fine with Suzanne, she's a nice person for the most part...but she's really demanding. Considering we've only known each for like a couple weeks..she takes my good nature personality for granted. Maybe I should be more REAL with her. lol. haha. jkjk.
But yeah, not much is going on...im just kicking it, waiting for my baby.
