After 9 days in Houston for Phi Rho Pi, I've returned exhausted, upset, and proud. We swam, we drank, we talked (A LOT!) and we won some awards. We made new friends, got closer to old ones, made fools of ourselves, laughed, cried, and laughed and cried some more. We kicked ass, and we got screwed. We learned about ourselves and our teammates. We learned about our coaches and our peers. We learned to be ourselves and to be charming. We learned that Texas food is hard on our Illinois digestive systems. We learned that we're hot.
See??? Hottest team at Phi Rho Pi! :-D
I learned that I'm powerful, and that people do want to listen to me. I learned that I can handle alcohol pretty well LOL I learned that even though my ID is expired, I'm still able to buy alcohol. I learned that not eating breakfast sucks and I learned that my ass looks really good in my red suit.
I ended up being really upset with how poorly my CA did, and really proud with how well my Prose did, as I ended up taking home a Bronze. I was really upset that some team members didn't break events that they should have, and that we got robbed in Semi-finals. But overall, I am SO proud of my team and so grateful for my coaches. I'm going to miss them all SO much! This week we really gathered together and worked as a team. We got together to go to lunch...we got together to go to dinner...we got together to have an easter egg hunt. We went to House of Pies for breakfast on Easter and ended up playing a question game which really made us learn a lot about each other. We went back to House of Pies a week later and had some amazing food and a fabulous time with one another. We went out Saturday night and had a BLAST with the rest of our region. Everyone seemed really excited to go home...except for me. I was pretty content to stay in Houston with those 8 other people and just chill for however much longer. Those 8 people are truly my only reason for staying connected to this place once I'm gone. Which, it seems, may be sooner than expected. I just had SO much fun with my team and coaches and I will never forget the experience I had or everything I took home with me...and that doesn't only mean my plaque. Without a doubt one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.
